Home Office

The room has white painted custom cabinetry against "future light gray" walls and darker gray shiplap. The desk is from a solid slab of Pao Rosa which is a South American hardwood that creates a splash of color against the monochromatic surroundings. The desk end support shows the natural form of the wood with the live edge. The slab was about 20 feet long and cut into two pieces to be joined together and then finished with a conversion varnish clear-coat that provides the most durable finish possible suitable for a desktop.

The free floating shelves and the wall cabinetry have LED lighting that are controllable by a dimmer and a white temperature color selector so the warmth of the lighting can complement the rooms color scheme. The shiplap was used on one wall and the backsplash under the wall cabinetry for a visual and textural contrast.

Storage is key in a home office. Base cabinets contain pull out drawers to house the printer and three computers. The sleek storage which helps keep the office clean also allowed us to removes a closet to make the room feel bigger.
